Music Education Philosophy

As a music educator, it is my firm belief that music

plays various roles for each student in their lives.

Regardless of cultural background, socio-economic status,

or intellectual and physical disabilities, any student should

be given the opportunity to explore, create, and perform

music through formal instruction in the classroom

(Madsen, 2000). Students cannot discover their own path

in music unless they are given the tools, resources, and

experiences to help them succeed.
